5 Year Anniversary

Donny leaves for Tokyo on Sunday. Holy cow! It's already time! We've packed and re-packed our bags. Purchased almost every traveling gadget we think we might need, and stuffed as many goodies into our carry-ons. Donny will be in Tokyo for a few weeks, setting up our apartment, phones, doctors, insurance, etc. Then the girls and I will fly out and join him in the end of April. I am a little disappointed I don't get to tag along for our pretend version of International House Hunters, but alas, life goes on.

Tomorrow marks our 5 year anniversary. What a man I married. He is a high caliber man who works harder than anyone I know. When I was growing up, my mom told me to marry a man like my father. And I don't think I could have done a better job. Donny is kind, faithful, courageous, loyal, funny and charming. Not to mention, he is rather handsome. We've been though hard things together, broke in college, broke at graduate school, and broke everywhere in-between. But we've never been poor where it matters. He is always finding ways to make my life better. Everything he does is to support me, our girls, and our future. I'm so happy to be a part of this. Being with him makes everything better.

The next month will be hard. It's the longest we've ever been apart. I'm so used to his presence, it'll be strange to be away from each other. Thankfully, it's just a month, and Skype, FaceTime and What'sApp are real things. It'll be hard for our girls, that is for sure. I'll have to perfect some of my bedtime stories, songs and routines to match Donny's high set standard. He reads and sings to them every night, so I can enjoy a few minutes alone after a long day. See what I mean? They don't make husbands and fathers much better...

As fun as the first 5 years were, I'm certain the next 5 will be even better.
