Our Latest Addition

So much has changed in so little time. Claire was born on the 15th of July, around 9:30am. Her birth was rather uneventful until the very end, when her umbilical cord broke.  Our doctor cursed a bit, and then she was born! Haha! She was very pale right after birth, because of the loss of cord blood. But we both recovered well! We were blessed with amazing nurses and doctors who took great care of us. It’s such a comfort being able to trust and rely on the hospital staff. They were great!

Since bringing our little bundle of joy home, things have gone relatively smoothly. Evelyn really does love Claire so much. It melts my heart every time I see her do something sweet for Claire. We’ve had to teach her basic things, like not touching her head, being ‘soft’, using her ‘inside voice’, and only putting blankets on Claire’s feet. Ya know, the basics! Haha! It seems like every time I turn around, Evelyn is giving Claire a kiss, showing her a book, or sharing her toys. I think Evelyn thinks Claire may stay this little forever (my wish!) and therefore, doesn’t think her possessions will be threatened in the very near future. I’m sure that once she figures out that sharing means more than just letting her look at it, things will get a bit dicey. Until then though, I’m just going to enjoy their sweet little relationship.

Donny and I have been doing well too. This time around, we knew what it was like to live on 3 hours of sleep…so that makes it not so terrible, right? Ha. Nope.

Donny started work 2 days after Claire was born, but it was a nice transition, because he started just at part-time. Then after a week, it jumped to full time. By then, I had a better handle on things.

We had so much help at first too, which was invaluable. My mom came, and stayed with Evelyn while we were at the hospital. I think they went to the aquarium and Ghirardelli every day! Then after my mom left, my mother in law came for a few days. It was nice to have her help, and just have someone to hang out with while Donny was gone!

So this weekend Donny’s younger sister Melissa is getting married! We are so excited. Her soon-to-be-husband, Karl, is a great guy. He is a perfect fit to Melissa, and they are so in love! We’re excited to see everyone again, and Evelyn has been dying for some good cousin time. So this weekend will be a much-needed mini reunion!

I’ll try to keep the stories and pictures coming! Until then, take care!
